If you’re buying screwdrivers for a multitude of uses - general carpentry, home appliances or even fixing a pinball machine - which screwdriver sets should you buy? Here’s our recommendations:
1. A good choice is the no link colonics href=”http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fQwTYvtmuFm/cgi-bin/prodgroup.asp?g=820&showAll=1&nvpair=FFBrand%7CSkew+Products” target=”_blank”>Skewdriver Set. The set consists of magnetic screwdrivers, allens, and nut drivers. I used this tool almost exclusively for quite a while and haven’t found many places it won’t fit.
2. Another good choice is a cordless electric hand-held screwdriver. Not one of those big 20 pound pigs with the huge batteries but something like the $30 Black & Decker “pivot driver” unit thatis sold at Home Depot. It’s one of the best $30 you can ever spend. You can literally add years to your life - at least a couple of weeks - with one of these by not having to sit there and manually “turn-turn-turn-turn-turn”. A good addition to this unit is an adapter that can be used with small 1/4″ sockets- and a 6″ extension for using on hex head screws, nylock nuts, and others. Very handy. Usually you have to buy a set of drill bits to get the adapter, but well worth it.
