Caring For Your Tools

Taking care of your tools will allow them to last you many years for your initial investment.

1. Mark Your Tools

Put your name on your tools so you know they're yours. Family, friends, and neighbors will often borrow stuff and forget you own it. That way, you'll be able to easily prove you do. Also, seeing your name on that saw might be a good reminder if they're a bit lazy coming by to bring back the loaned stuff.

2. Keep Moisture Away

Moisture will rust your tools so keep them in a dry place. If you have high humidity where you keep the tools, they will eventually begin to rust. Coat them with oil to help protect from rusting. You can also put them in Saran wrap to keep wetness away.

3. Don't Pile Them Carelessly

Piling tools away without regard can mar some tools with other tools' pointed or sharp edges Ideally, tools should be hung in a garage wall to prevent marring damage. If this is not an option, store them properly lined up in your toolbox.
