Discount Safety Gear is a Yahoo store offering industrial safety equipments such as hard hats, safety goggles, first aid kits, and other protection equipment.

Despite the name, there is no mention of “discounts” on purchases anywhere on the front page. I would have expected discount deals and lower prices as a major selling point, considering the name implied it.

Unlike many Yahoo stores, the site is nice-looking, easy to navigate and it is easy to find what you need - no never-ending drill-down subcategories. The sections are well-designed and clear. The item layouts are clean - one good-sized picture of the item, the complete name, standard retail and discounted price. Yes, there actually are discounts!

They give discounts for single purchases and even better deals for multiple quantity orders. And shipping is free to any order over $100.

The choice of inventory is good. I personally hate shopping online where the shops try to sell every single make and model. Unless I know exactly the brand, make and model I’m getting, I always close those sites and look elsewhere. It’s easier to make a choice with only a handful of options if I can get a guarantee that the models sold have been reviewed and were chosen for their quality over their peers. I’d like to see a statement like that somewhere on the site where it is noticable.

Lastly, I’d like to see a top list of the most popular items in the top navigation. I’m sure it will be of interest to many shoppers to find what brands and models others are actually choosing to spend their money on.
