Last week, in my haste to finish up a tall mobile closet I was painting, I accidentally tapped the brush in a long line, leaving an ugly mark across my aluminum ladder. I quickly wiped it off with a rag but, alas, it left a stain. I normally wouldn’t care about the stray paint but the ladder is a new gift from the wife so I had to get it off.
For stuff I really REALLY need to strip paint from, I normally skip all the environmental, health-safe politically correct stripping products and go for the harsh stuff, like those with methylene chloride. My favorite is Jasco Premium Paint and Epoxy Remover, easily available from most properly stocked hardware stores.
For reasons only my mind will know, I can’t get my head out of this interesting piece from This Old House. It’s a very creative, highly-useful list of ten ways to re-use a worn out garden hose, which include cutting a piece open to use as a safety covering for sharp handsaw blades, converting into a soaker, and sliding short sections over wire handles to give them softer grips.
