Using A Spray Can
Before starting, make sure to mix and stir all the paint in the can. You can do this by shaking the can, flipping it back and forth. You should hear a rattle inside the container which comes from the small steel ball inside the can. The ball helps mix the paint properly.
Failure to do so will either leave the paint very thin or waste a lot of paint finish left in the can. Because of the smell, always use the spray in a properly-ventilated area. Make sure to cover spots you don’t want to paint as spraying is harder to control and can sometimes spout all over the place.
Using A Spray Gun
Spray guns are more ideal to use in interior painting projects. More precaution needs to be taken than with spray cans - proper ventilation, respirator and safety goggles are all highly recommended.
Indoors Versus Outdoors
Spraying is highly recommended to be done indoors so paint doesn’t accidentally get airborne onto neighbor’s lawns, fences and automobiles. If you need to do the work outside, do so on a windless day to minimize risks.
