Wondering what window treatment to use for your home?

We get asked about this all the time. And sometimes the question is plain enough and at others times a picture of the situation definitely helps. There are so many choices in today’s market it can be overwhelming at times. Many of homes today use a combination of drapery panels, pleated blinds, sheers, wooden shutters, roman shades and valances.

Once we have decided we want to use valances and panels, we need not look any further we have definitely come to the right place! Nowhere on the web will we find a business that can help we with fabric selection, sizing questions, style questions and be able to make and ship wer new treatments in 7 days or less! Even if a product is already made and stocked at a business, it can take 5 or more days for it to get shipped. Why would we want to buy mass produced products when for about the same price we can get window treatments made to fit wer windows in upscale luxury, designer fabrics, unique trends and high quality.

Let’s first talk a little about trends of valances and stick widths. When it comes to valances, the width of stick we need can play a major part in determining which trends can and can not be used. Gathered valance trends give we more flexibility when it comes to what size window treatment we will need than a flat stick pocket style has. Since the gathered valance is gathered on the stick, the exact stick width is not so important. Fullness of most window treatments is averaged at about 2 ½ times stick width. Many of times we can use multiple valances on a stick in order to get the fullness we desire, however, this is not always true. we need to make sure the valances when placed on the stick together look as if its one treatment. We have listed all of our valances as to whether inserts can be used to get a wider treatment or multiple treatments can be used on one stick.

The flat stick pocket trends are great alternatives to having board mounted valances that can cost 3 - 4 times as much. The only concern with the flat stick style is that there should be no gathering of the stick pocket which means the width of stick and the returns will play a major part in determining whether that particular style can be used. Depending on the style of flat stick pocket valance we are considering, some of the treatments can be made any width up to a certain size, whereas others are only available in the sizes given. So if we have a stick width of 40” and 2 returns each 3”, we would need a flat stick style width of 46”. If the treatment width cannot be altered and is only made in “lets say” a 52” width, then we could (if we have the wall space) expand the face width of wer stick to 46” and the treatment could be used then, keep in mind 6” is for the return on each side.
